Immediately after work last Saturday, I prepped to leave for Carmona, Cavite. My cousin invited us to attend the celebration of my nephew’s 7th birthday. Albeit no sleep, I went to celebrate and visit my relatives in Cavite.
Cavite and Rizal may not be that far compared to our family in Mindanao, however, we don’t meet very often. That’s just how it is when you have a job, I guess. We usually just meet once or twice a year. So, even though sleepless, I attend the birthday celebration.
Getting rest when I can
Where did I sleep, you may ask? I slept on the bus! LOL! Buti nalang ‘tong si Nate, very understanding. Sinabi ko sa kanyang matutulog muna ako. Pumayag naman sya. Nakakandong lang sya sakin habang nakatingin sa labas. Minsan naman, sisilip sya sa pinapalabas na movie sa bus.
I remember when we were traveling to Lucena, sobrang haba ng biyahe rin. Pareho kaming nakatulog sa biyahe! haha! At least nakatulog siguro ako ng mga 1 to 1.5 hours sa biyahe. Nate woke me up, though, kasi gutom daw sya.

Little man’s reward
By the time we arrived in Alabang, at least I was a little bit rested already. That should give me enough strength to endure the few hours of the event. HAHA! We bought a gift for my nephew and also got Nate a small toy. I thanked him for letting me rest sa biyahe.
Reunited with relatives
My aunt is my mother’s sister. She’s very perky and always game! We ate and talked for about an hour. At least we had a short time to catch up before the party started. ‘Yung mga pamangkin ko, hindi ako kilala. Hindi rin sila magkakilala ni Nate. But, you know kids, right? It only takes a few minutes and they’re already friends. That’s how quick they get acquainted. So, Nate got to play with them.
The 7th birthday
Sabay na kaming pumunta sa venue, which was in Jollibee Carmona Checkpoint. It was a simple and fun celebration. The party was not just enjoyed by the kids but also by the kids by heart like me. 🙂
After the event, we just stayed at my aunt’s house for a short while. Tapos, umuwi na rin kami agad.
When it comes to birthdays, I always remember two things: My physical birthday and spiritual birthday. My physical birthday was on the day I was born into this world by my parents. My spiritual birthday was the day I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Redeemer.
You see, our lives here on Earth are but temporary. There’s more after this life. And where we’re going depends on the decisions we make while on Earth. So let me share this simple truth.
Jesus, the Lord of Lords, came into this world to save sinners – that’s you and me. We were doomed to be in hell because of sin. But, God loves us. He doesn’t want us to rot in hell for eternity. So He sent His Son – Jesus Christ to save sinners. So that whoever believes in the power of the cross will have eternal life in heaven with Him.
How are you going to be saved? Salvation is given to all, but only a few believe. If you want to have a reconciled relationship with our Creator, all you have to do is 1. accept that you are a sinner and need a Savior, 2. Believe that Jesus died and rose again for your sins and 3. Confess your sins and accept Jesus in your heart as your personal Savior and Lord.
If you do that wholeheartedly, then you become a child of God.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
