Sundayvotion: Potter and Clay

Clay pots are known for its great quality. Ancient people have used clay pots to cook. Even nowadays, there are still people who’d rather use these in the kitchen rather than those pots that we can buy from the stores.

Ever since I was young I have always wanted to see how a pot is made. That did not come true yet. But who knows maybe one day I’ll be able to. Every time I see photos of potters and making these lovely pots from scratch, I can’t help but be amazed at the wonders of their hands. When you think about it, it’s definitely incredible how a pot is made.

As we all know pots come from clay. These pots are carefully molded in order to make apart that has a great quality. In the bible, people are likened to clay. And God is the Potter. As a clay, we experience a lot of processes, careful moldings, extractions, before we become more useful and effective in whatever path we want to go with life. God may use life’s trials and testings in order for us to become a better person.

If we have positive outlook life, we would welcome these trials and testings and treat them as part of the learning process. We would know that even in difficult circumstances lies lessons and learning that we can use in order for us to be better.

I know it’s easier said than done, but little by little, with God’s guidance, we will learn to look at life’s circumstances in a different way. No matter what you are going through right now, remember that it can just be a process that is used for you to become more valuable and have good quality.

What are you going through right now that you think God is using to mold your life?

  1. You need to go to Vigan if you want to see how pot is made. Nakakaamaze how they make a jar, it looks so easy but I know it is difficult for those who do not have experience. I wish we experience making a pot kaso picture taking lang kami after ng demo nila. hehehe!

  2. Reading this post, I remember the christian song na "you are the potter, i am the clay….". im not sure if you're familiar with it pero its a very nice song. something about God molding us and us letting Him do that. I haven't seen how pots are made too, except from TV shows, and mukhang nakakatuwa.

  3. After I read this, I played the Song Potter's Hand. It's one of the favorite songs of mine by Hillsong. And yes, our Lord is our potter and we're the clay He's molding into a wonderful, useful, beautiful pot if only we surender to the Potter's Hands… I love this post sis. Napapa-reflect ako sa Sundyvotions mo. 🙂

  4. Yes, our challenges, our weaknesses, our trials and hardships are opportunities to know God more and to trust in His perfect plan. It took me a while to learn this. But God is faithful. 🙂

  5. I love to have a pottery class, ang pinakamalapit meron sa Tagaytay. But I have tried my first pottery in Sagada, sobrang ganda ng experience. There are so many trials in life but God is always there to guide and help us.
